Ken Newhouse, USTCP, CPA, CITP, CGMA

Ken Newhouse serves as Managing Principal of Moore Beauston & Woodham (MBW), one of South Carolina's leading accounting and advisory firms. With more than 25 years of experience in public accounting, Ken provides strategic leadership for the firm while continuing to advise privately held businesses, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals on complex tax, accounting, and business matters. 

Throughout his career, Ken has built a reputation as a trusted advisor who combines technical expertise with practical business insight. His areas of specialization include strategic tax planning, partnership and S corporation taxation, IRS and state tax controversy representation, litigation support, real estate transactions, timber taxation, multi-state tax issues, and business consulting. He is also one of the relatively few non-attorneys admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court as a United States Tax Court Practitioner (USTCP). 

Before becoming Managing Principal in 2025, Ken served as Partner-in-Charge of MBW's Columbia office and was a member of the firm's Executive Committee. His leadership philosophy is centered on embracing innovation, developing future leaders, and helping clients navigate change with confidence. Under his leadership, MBW continues to invest in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation, while maintaining its commitment to exceptional client service and trusted relationships. 

Ken is widely recognized as a leader within the accounting profession. He has held numerous leadership positions with the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA), including Chair of the Board of Directors, Vice Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee, Chair of the Tax Committee, and Chair of the Financial Literacy Task Force. During his tenure, he frequently worked with legislators and regulatory agencies on tax policy matters impacting South Carolina businesses and taxpayers. 

His professional contributions have been recognized with multiple honors, including the SCACPA Service to the Profession Award, two SCACPA President's Awards, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He has also served as an instructor for professional education programs, a guest speaker for industry organizations, and an advocate for financial literacy initiatives throughout South Carolina. 

Prior to entering public accounting, Ken served for more than thirteen years in the South Carolina Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve as a Computer and Cryptographic Systems Technician, where he developed expertise in technology, cybersecurity, systems implementation, and leadership. His unique combination of accounting, technology, and leadership experience continues to influence his approach to serving clients and leading the firm. 

A native South Carolinian, Ken earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business and an Associate of Applied Science in Electronic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of professionals and helping organizations achieve sustainable growth through sound financial strategy and strong leadership. 

When not serving clients or leading the firm, Ken enjoys spending time with his wife, Tina, and family, coaching and following basketball, supporting University of South Carolina athletics, and giving back to the community through professional and civic involvement.
